Please join me for this Art Retreat in Croatia! The little country tucked behind the knee of Italy. We will be based in Split, a sun-drenched, walled city kissing the Adriatic Sea. As an artist I understand first hand the allure, excitement and sense of possibility making art in another country can offer. Give your eyes a new feast and then train them to see and paint the elements in the landscape!
Painting the Elements of Nature
"Path", Linda Laino, watercolor and ink on rice paper, 2018
What are the"elements"? In Croatia we will be surrounded by inspiring landscapes to experience the natural elements like earth, water and space. This workshop will also explore some of the ART principles and elements such as line, color, texture, contrast and pattern. These are the nuts and bolts of painting and design and will teach you how to think and see like an artist.
Utilizing the flora and fauna of our beautiful surroundings, we will work small and use water-based materials to layer representation with abstraction as we play with these dynamic basics of composition. Any experience level can be accommodated, so beginners in need of more instruction can benefit as much as seasoned artists. Come join us in Croatia with Viaggio Tours for a week filled with art, learning, history, great food and dynamic excursions!
Viaggio Tours has created a beautiful and exciting week of excursions and activities to inspire our art sessions and feed our vision. Highlights include the Diocletian Palace (pictured above). Built in the 4th century, within the walls is a virtual city of museums, cafes, and temples. A day trip to Krka National Park where we can cool off in the falls (below). Please visit Viaggio Tours for all the details and to reserve your spot. I look forward to painting with you in Croatia!
A Little About Me:
I am an artist, writer and teacher who has been making art in one form or another for over 40 years. Holding an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, I enjoy playing with words as much as form and color. Since 2012, I have resided in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where the surreal atmosphere and sensual colors have wormed their way into my paintings. The last few years have found me making art at residencies around the world, most recently in France and Spain. Finding beautiful things on the ground is a favorite pastime. My art can be be found at www.lindalaino.com. Some of my poems and essays have been published by Sheila-Na-Gig Journal (Nominated "Poem at Sixty" for a Pushcart Prize), The New Engagement, Sonder Midwest, Star 82, Life in 10 Minutes, and my blog, wordsandpictures.lindalaino.com.
